Are Minors Responsible For Any Debt They Incur?

In general, debts incurred through contract by a minor are voidable.  They do not hold in court because most states, including NY, do not hold minors legally capable of a binding contract, unless it is for the necessities of life, such as food, clothing, or for student loan contracts. This goes for credit card debt as well. Even if the minor doesn't technically sign a contract, using the card acts as an acceptance of terms. Generally, minors are not responsible for credit card debt incurred before age 18.  Minors also have no financial responsibility for medical bills, however, generally their parents re responsible.
